The Chinese-owned company Lenovo is today a multinational technology company specializing in design, manufacturing, and marketing of consumer electronics, personal computers, software, business solutions, and related services. Their products include desktop computers, laptops, tablet computers, smartphones, workstations, servers, supercomputers, data storage devices, IT management software, and smart TVs.
Lenovo was founded in 1984 (as Legend) and in 2005 acquired IBM's personal computer business. Then in 2014 they further acquired IBM’s Intel-based server business, in addition to the mobile phone maker part of Motorola from Google.
The company has today operations in over 60 countries with its main headquarter in Beijing + a regional headquarter in North Carolina, USA. Also, it has several research centers, both outside and inside China, including in Shanghai.
Lenovo is one of Nemko’s main customers in China and recently the management of Nemko Group, headed by the CEO, Mr. Per Ove Øyberg, got the opportunity to visit their research center in Shanghai.
In addition to a formal meeting where Nemko and Lenovo exchanged updates and shared future expectations, the visit included discussions with both Lenovo's Consumer Notebook and Commercial Notebook divisions.
A highlight of the visit was also a guided tour of the Lenovo Future Center.
At the Future Center, there are displays of IoT and AI devices designed for a wide range of applications, including daily life, education, entertainment, industry, agriculture, and transportation. Apart from business visits, the center is also open to pre-booked visits from school groups, families, and community organizations, offering a glimpse into how future technology will shape our lives.
It was made clear how critical cybersecurity compliance and AI assurance have become for Lenovo, both now and in the future. Lenovo has demonstrated significant focus on these areas and has invited Nemko China's cybersecurity experts to provide consultations and conduct multiple training sessions on cybersecurity regulations and standards.
