The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has recently announced the following updates:

Circular regarding the use of 5925-6425 MHz frequency band on a shared basis.
Inclusion of the 5925-6425 MHz frequency range of the 6 GHz band in the National Frequency Allocation Policy for shared use in cellular mobile networks (including Wi-Fi/IoT/Wireless LAN), has been approved by the Commission. However, before allocating spectrum, importing and using radio equipment for commercial services in the said band, prior approval of the Commission must be obtained.

Notification regarding the production of ISM band Wi-Fi routers in the country and import from abroad.
From 1 April this year, all Wi-Fi routers marketed in Bangladesh must support both the 2.4-2.483 GHz and the 5.725-5.875 GHz bands. Permission will not be granted to market Wi-Fi routers that support only one band.

Almost all types of radio communication equipment entering Bangladesh must obtain BTRC permission.
The process includes the following two steps:

1) Local entities intending to import radio communication equipment, must apply and obtain Radio Equipment Importer and Vendor Enlistment Certificate from BTRC.
The certificate lists the equipment permitted to import and is valid for 2 years.

2) Prior to arrival of the shipment with radio communications equipment, the registered importer/vendor must apply and obtain No Objection Certificate (NoC) from BTRC

The BTRC regulation covers amongst other the following types of Radio Communication:
-Private mobile radio equipment (Handheld/Portable/Vehicle Mounted/Base/Repeater etc.)
     -Mobile phone handset.
     -Fixed wireless phone/modem.
-All kinds of IoT equipment (SIM/Non-SIM/sensor based), Point of Sale machine.
-All kinds of ISM equipment which operate in the 2.5 GHz & 5.7 GHz band and 6 GHz equipment.
-All kinds of radio equipment used by cellular mobile operators.
-All radio service equipment as per ITU Recommendations.
