Morocco, which is officially named The Kingdom of Morocco, is at the Northwest corner of Africa. The population is presently about 38 mill, with Rabat as the capital, while the largest city is Casablanca.
Morocco’s National Agency for Telecommunications Regulation (ANRT) recently published a Decision denoted DG No. 16/24, which updates the type approval- and labeling requirements for telecom terminal equipment and radioelectric devices sold and used in Morocco.
The update is meant to emphasize the importance of safety, transparency, and compliance, ensuring that products meet global standards while protecting end-users.
The changes are as described below and apply to all equipment requiring approval and entail certain new compliance measures for the applying manufacturers, importers, and distributors.

    - ANRT may exceptionally request samples for testing after technical documentation review.  If testing is required, ANRT reserves the right to keep the samples after testing. Leadtime is generally 15 business days.

    - Labels have been updated and are applicable to devices granted a type ANRT approval certificate and import permit. The label should be affixed to anrtthe device itself, or on outer packaging, documents, or an e-label if the device is too small for a physical label. Official templates describing size, font, and formatting for all approved labeling shall be available.

    - Any approved equipment with transmission power exceeding 20 mW, which is regularly used within 20 cm from the user, must display Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) information clearly and accessibly as a main technical characteristic, either on the equipment itself or on the packaging, accompanying documents, or e-label.
This information must also be included in marketing material.
The SAR requirement comes into force on 1 May this year and applies to mobile phones, smartphones, tablets with SIM/eSIM card and/or Wi-Fi, smart watches with SIM/eSIM card, cellular routers and modems, walkie-talkies, laptops with SIM/eSIM card and/or Wi-Fi and DECT or cordless phones, and all similar equipment.
