In order to align with the evolving telecom equipment technologies and market needs, the Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA)has recently updated its Type Approval Procedure. In this process, new documents related to the product manufacturer (as the Brand Owner) have been added to the list of
requirements.
Applicants must hereafter submit the following additional documents:
For the Light-Type Approval Scheme:
- ISO 9001 certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner)
- European or US test reports
- Product labelling photos
For the Tight-Type Approval Scheme:
- ISO 9001 certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner)
For the Intermediate-Type Approval Scheme:
- ISO 9001 certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner)
- Product labelling photos
According to NTRA guidelines, the labelling requirements are now as follows:
1. For small devices with limited space for labelling information, it is sufficient to label only the brand name and model designation without violating other labelling requirements.
2. Labelling is mandatory for the following items:
o External batteries
o Chargers and power adapters
3. For approved product sold in the market without associated charger or power adapter, the user manual must include technical specification of the charger or power adapter that will ensure compliance with the product.
