Navigating New CCC Certification Standards: What You Need to Know
Written by: Vanessa Wen
Recently, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) released a statement clarifying the certification standards surrounding electronic products and safety accessories.
As the responsible party for the official implementation rules for CCC certification and CCC self-declaration, the CNCA announced a new cut-off date for CCC certificate renewal in compliance with the latest standards, GB 4943.1-2022 (IEC 62368-1: 2018) and GB/T 9254.1-2021 (CISPR 32:2015). EMC standard GB/T 9254.1-2021 has already been in force since July 1, 2022, and all new CCC applications after this date will need to comply with the new standard.
However, for safety standard GB 4943.1-2022 (IEC 62368-1:2018), it will go into effect as of August 1, 2023, at which time all manufacturers and importers of audio/video electronics and information technology equipment (ITE) must adhere to the new safety standards in order to receive CCC certification.
This transition period arrangement for certificate renewal is to facilitate the renewal process of certified enterprises and reduce the cost of certificate renewal. It is not meant to delay the implementation date of the standard.
Chinese importers and manufacturers will need to work with an accredited Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) for audio/video (AV) products that require sample testing, as well as any ITE that may require either sample testing or documentation in order to gain certification for the market. This will all be dependent on the product specifications.
Those who fail to update their CCC certification before July 31, 2024 run the risk of their existing certifications being canceled by the CNCA, and all related products being rejected by the Chinese market.
For more information on the specific ITE or AV products that these new standards will apply, see the most recent list released by the CNCA.
