Tunisia: Ministry of Communication Technologies Authorizes WiFi 6E Frequency Bands

On December 10, 2024, The Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies officially authorized the use of WiFi 6E frequency bands (5925–6425 MHz) for RLAN (WiFi) services, allowing for faster and more efficient wireless communication. This update aligns with European standards, specifically EN 303 687, and includes key specifications such as a maximum power limit of 200 mW and restrictions for indoor use.

This regulation is specific to Tunisia and will allow the use of modern WiFi 6E devices within the newly authorized frequency spectrum. This frequency range enables faster data transfer and improved wireless connectivity between devices, benefiting both consumers and businesses.

With the adoption of Wi-Fi 6E, Tunisia is demonstrating its commitment to enhanced connectivity that will significantly improve the user experience.

How to Remain Compliant with New Regulations

This regulatory change marks a major advancement in Tunisia's wireless communication capabilities and introduces new opportunities for manufacturers.

A wide range of smart devices, including laptops, smartphones, and TVs, now come with Wi-Fi 6E support. To comply with the new regulations, the local certification process must be followed.

Manufacturers must ensure their Wi-Fi 6E-enabled devices meet the new frequency band and certification requirements to be legally sold and operated in Tunisia. Uncertified devices may be prohibited from sale or use within Tunisia.
