(The Philippines’ National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has introduced significant amendments to the type approval regulations for telecommunications equipment operating within the 5925-6425 MHz frequency band. These changes are intended to ensure that all equipment remains compliant with the regulatory standards for Short Range Devices (SRDs) which were announced in July this year.
Some key points of the changes are:
• Modification of the Type Acceptance Certificates (TAC) and Grants of Equipment Conformity (GEC), which entails that all previously issued certificates for equipment affected by this frequency band allocation must undergo a modification.
• Applications for the certificate modification must include the following supporting Documentation:
- Declaration of updated equipment radio specifications.
- A copy of the applicable radio test report or certificate.
- A copy of the previously issued NTC Type Acceptance Certificate or Grant of Equipment Conformity.
• The updated certificate will indicate coverage for the newly allocated frequency band (5925-6425 MHz) for short range devices and will retain the original NTC certificate number.
