- Changes concerning Energy Label (PELP) and Energy Performance (MEPP)
The Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) has published a Circular No. DC2024-05-0016 which concerns the energy performance of the following types of products:
Television sets, Display monitors and Lighting products as well as Refrigerating appliances, Clothes washing machines, Air conditioners and Energy-saving devices.
The changes are made effective from 3 July this year.
For the Energy Label, the products need to be registered with valid test report from an accredited laboratory.
So far, Display Monitors (DMs) and Energy-Saving Devices (ESDs) are not yet within DOE’s online system. There is normally a one-year transition period after the registration module becomes available.

The Philippines’ National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) did on 5 July issue Memorandum Circular No. 002-07-2024, which introduces significant changes to the operating parameters for wireless LAN technologies. The new regulations add frequency bands and introduce specific power limits for the 5925 - 6425 MHz and 17.1 - 17.3 GHz bands, which were either not covered or detailed previously.
Some restrictions are introduced as the use of the 5925-6425 MHz band is now prohibited for unmanned aircraft systems/drones and there is made clear differentiation between indoor and outdoor use.
