New Telecom Regulations in Jordan and Syria

Jordan, which is officially named the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is located in western Asia and being bordered by Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Palestinian West Bank. 
The population is presently nearly 12 million, with Amman as the country's capital and the largest city.

The Jordanian Telecom Regulatory Commission (TRC) has a new type approval regulation for telecom devices, which was made effective from 15 September.
It entails significant changes in order to enhance the type approval process, including the following: 

• Type approval certificates is now valid for 1 year, compared to previously 3 years validity.
• Test reports submitted for type approval showing compliance with the prescribed standards, must originate from testing laboratories being  accredited by ILAC member bodies.
• Modifications to brand names, product descriptions, manufacturer names, or certificate holder details will require a modification application without affecting the certificate's validity. However, changes to model numbers or technical specifications will necessitate a new application.
• Certain devices, such as laptops, printers, GPS receivers, and desktop computers, are exempt from mandatory type approval but can be approved voluntarily.
• The devices must be labelled to display essential information, including the manufacturer’s name, trade name, model designation, and IMEI (for mobile devices), either physically or electronically.
  

Syria, which is officially named the Syrian Arab Republic, is also a country in western Asia.
It has a coastline to the Mediterranean Sea and is bordering Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, and Lebanon. The country does currently have a population of about 24 mill with Damascus as the capital and largest city.
The Syrian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (SyTPRA) has now introduced a new regulation governing the use of WiFi 6E technology. This aims to improve wireless connectivity by opening additional frequency bands and setting clear technical parameters for WiFi 6E usage in both public and private sectors.

Some of the key points in the new regulation are:
-Allowing the use of a number of frequency bands for WiFi 6E, ranging from 2400-2483.5 MHz to 57-66 GHz
-Specifying the frequency ranges for indoor and outdoor use, respectively.
-Requiring that devices must comply with the new regulation and obtain type approval by SyTRA before being marketed or used in Syria
