Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has published the highly anticipated Final Radio requirements standard, RSS-248 Issue 1, for 6 GHz technologies today. The release of this standard supports the implementation of ISED's 6 GHz framework and enables innovation.
In addition, ISED is conducting a consultation on Supplementary procedures for assessing Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and Absorbed Power Density (APD) compliance of Portable Devices in the 6 GHz Band (5925-7125 MHz). Here is a copy of the consultation on the Supplementary Procedure SPR-ADP.
This compliance procedure describes the technical requirements and processes to be followed when demonstrating compliance with specific absorption rate (SAR) limits and absorbed power density (APD) limits for portable devices operating in the 6 GHz band (for example, RLAN device in the 5925-7125 MHz band) that are subject to RSS-248, newly published.
The draft document along with the form to provide comments will be available on the Radio Advisory Board of Canada (RABC) website. The consultation will close on January 31, 2022.
