In mid-March, Nemko Group celebrated the opening of new offices and testing laboratories in both India and Korea.
In India the opening ceremony at Faridabad outside New Delhi took place on 15 March, while in Korea at Gyeonggi-do nearby Seoul, the event took place two days later, on 17 March.
The ceremonies were headed by the Nemko Group’s CEO & President Mr. Per-Ove Øyberg. He addressed the employees as well as the many guests, including government officials, media, and other stakeholders, and highlighted the hard work and perseverance that went into making these projects a reality.
Other senior Nemko managers expressed their excitement for these major investments in the company's future and continued growth and the dedication to providing first class services to the clients.
The highlight of the events was the ribbon-cutting ceremonies when the guests were invited to join in the official
opening at the respective locations. During subsequent guided tours, the guests were shown the state-of-the-art
technology and equipment used in the labs.
In addition to celebrating the new facilities, opportunity was at both locations taken to recognize Nemko’s 90 years
anniversary.
After establishment in 1933 as an institution for mandatory safety testing and approval of electrical equipment and
material marketed in Norway, Nemko served this regulatory role for nearly 60 years.
When Norway joined the European Economic Area agreement around 1990 and mandatory approval was abandoned in line with the rest of western Europe, Nemko was converted into an independent, self-owned private foundation.
(Unlike the equivalent other Nordic bodies, which were sold to big international organizations).
Since then, Nemko has been through a truly remarkable development and growth to become today an international organization with representation and operations worldwide.
