Argentina's Resolution 237/2024: Key Changes for Conformity Assessment of Electrical Products
Written by: Michelle Furrow
Starting March 28, 2025, Argentina’s National Directorate of Technical Regulations (DNRT) will implement Resolution 237/2024, introducing significant updates to streamline the certification process and enhance market surveillance. These changes are designed to ensure products meet Argentina’s technical standards and regulatory requirements, with a focus on post-market compliance.
Key Changes & Impacts:
- Expanded Acceptance of Foreign Certifications and Tests: The new resolution allows for broader recognition of foreign certifications and tests conducted by entities with agreements in Argentina. Our Nemko test report is recognized, facilitating easier access to the Argentine market through partnerships with local OAC-accredited bodies.
- Shift in Compliance Responsibility: The responsibility for verifying compliance with technical regulations is shifting from Customs to the DNRT. This means that products will no longer be checked for compliance at the border but will instead undergo post-market surveillance, providing a smoother import process.
- Introduction of New Conformity Marking: Resolution 237/2024 introduces a new conformity marking that includes a QR code. This QR code will link to the product’s Declaration of Conformity (DoC) and certification details (if applicable). The DoC must be available in Spanish and signed by the local manufacturer or importer.
Below is an example of the new marking:
