Recently, Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) published two new Acts which serve to update technical requirements for devices with wireless wide area network (WWAN) capabilities and cellular mobile devices.
Act Nº 10002 updates Act 3151’s technical requirements for Access Terminal Station, while Act Nº 10003 updates Act 3152 as related to the technical requirements around mobile phones. Both of these Acts include additional requirements for 5G New Radio (NR) Frequency Range 2 (FR2) for both standalone and non-standalone inter-band and intra-band, as well as NB-IoT NB2 enabled devices.
As testing continues for both 4G and 5G dual connectivity solutions, ANATEL extends a six-month grace period from its announcement on November 29, 2021, for all applicable manufacturers to meet these mandatory changes. As of May 29, 2022, these radio and wireless device manufacturers will need to provide the proper documentation and test reports for the new EN-DC combinations from devices in order to comply with these new Acts and gain successful admission to the Brazilian market.
